Music is entertainment, but entertainment is also art. Art is capable of reaching to us at the individual level and eliciting emotions in a way that doesn’t seem too dissimilar from magic. But one of the most important things that art can do is create change, and an artist in the scene is looking to do exactly that by raising funds for March for Our Lives.
North Carolina-based producer Thunder Porpoise has decided to use synthwave as an avenue for change in the wake of the repeated and senseless acts of gun violence that grip the United States. You may know Thunder Porpoise from his strong debut EP last summer or from some of his songs promoted on our Youtube channel. He has just released a track from his upcoming album as a name-your-price single on Bandcamp to raise funds to donate to March for Our Lives. 100% of proceeds from the track will be donated to support their valiant efforts to advance the cause of common-sense gun legislation in the United States while attempting to balance the obvious pain and outrage in society with a message of hope, compassion, reason, and love. In addition to the donation from the proceeds, Thunder Porpoise will also be personally matching donations raised by this release up to $100 of his own money. He hopes that the charity release of this track will help raise and maintain awareness of the issue of school shootings and gun violence in general, and the greed that enables it.
If you want to support a good cause, listen to a good song, and help make the world a safer place from the nonsense of gun violence, visit the Bandcamp for Thunder Porpoise’s track “You Know the Ones”, and consider donating a dollar or two (or more!).
