This is very sad news for the scene. Putting the infamous tweet aside, Kavinsky’s “Nightcall” was an essential cog to bringing Synthwave to the light.
Vincent Belorgey, aka Kavinsky, was found dead in his Paris apartment on July 28. He was 50 years old. There is no foul play being called at hand, but investigations are currently ongoing so more news will unfold. Kavinsky apparently was complaining about headaches for several days, before his passing.
We will all remember Kavinsky for his magnificent song contribution to the movie “Drive”, and his OUTRUN album..
