Highlander directed by Russel Mulcahy (The Shadow, The Real McCoy, Razorback) and starring Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown as the Kurgan.

Set in both medieval Scotland and 1980’s New York City and revolves around the centuries old battle between mysterious immortals all in competition for “The Prize” a boon of unlimited power and control over the fate of humanity.

With music by the iconic Rock & Roll band Queen and made with a low-budget of $19billion and earning only $12 million at the box office making it a bomb but over time gaining a cult-classic status that spawned a franchise and a long-running and underrated television series starring Adrian Paul as the superior member of the MacCleod Clan and another short lived spin-off starring Elizabeth Gracen titled “Highlander: The Raven”.

The film is well-known for its almost sci-fi/fantasy nods and the heroes journey of Conor MacCleod and it’s performances by Lambert and Brown. and presented here in pretty exceptional format. Unlike other sword and sorcery films at least the weapons look real in this film and the ending battle is pretty cool.

There can be only one, after all.
