Directed by Thomas Landrein and art director Jonas Genevaz, ‘Gone’ follows an armed resistance group through a number of apocalyptic views of the French capital being torn asunder by armed forces. Visceral and grandiose, Sierra’s tribute to France’s brilliant animators serves as yet another urgent reminder to dive back into the artist’s stellar back catalogue.

Featuring Prudence (the Dø) and Morgan Phalen (Diamond Nights) on vocals, ‘Zenith’ has been announced as a sequel to the Outrun mega-hit ‘Nightcall’. The track adopts a more contemplate vibe than ‘Renegade‘, with sexy sax licks and wailing synth leads that will take you back to the days of leopard spandex and curly-haired hard-rock ballads.

The EP sets off with a violent, crashing groove set against pulsating sirens, immediately pulling you into the producers’ cavernous, claustrophobic world on ‘See Me now’ and ‘Trust’. Chaos and violence recede and the ambience swells into a thick, slightly suffocating fog on ‘All or Nothing’, your racing heartrate hitting every backbeat as you catch your breath in time for the punished reprise that is  ‘Control’. Finally, the record closes on an epic downtempo track that will leave you scarred with images of utter desolation and ruin.

See Me Now is not a record for the faint-hearted and leaves little room for cute, twinkly synth sounds. Clocking just under the 20-minute mark, the EP will keep your senses locked in. For those fueled by the occasional lycanthropic urge to feel boiling blood shooting through their veins, Sierra’s See Me Now is the be-all and end-all fix you need.

In other equally disturbing news, we have just received reports from the city of Paris, where similar reports of otherworldly sonic havoc seem to have been met with what can only be described as mass hysteria. The Parisians have flooded the streets and are now dancing in an apocalyptic frenzy. French fatalism has officially kicked into full gear, ladies and gentlemen.

The time has come to panic! Lock your doors, turn the volume of your radio set to full volume, grab your rifle and sweetheart and pray. If you’re not shivering in your boots to the sound of Hollywood Burns, you’re not paying close enough attention.

Passage marks Parisian producer Drich’s first release under the Cartridge 1987 since 2012’s Last Escape, one in a series of grandiose comeback releases to have been unveiled in 2021.

Presented as a set of twelve tracks each representing their own separate realms, the album is filled with the sense of mystery and wonder of eighties fantasy and adventure films and TV shows whilst also carrying a healthy dose of that electrifying, highly addictive French touch. Drich’s sound design deserves a particular mention as Passage’s strongest feats; with fuzzy lead melodies and acid basslines, every track is impeccably arranged with a tasteful balance between grit and groove that keeps a steady momentum going throughout the album’s tracklist.

Whether you’re after a heavy night-cruising record or a cinematic experience to send your mind back to a time when reality took the backseat in a young child’s mind, Passage is a moreish listen with a solid case to defend its merits as an instant classic.

Set on familiar grounds in the green wilderness, the 17-minute concert is largely dedicated to his latest work on the Haven Soundtrack and sees Danger in complete control of his craft, having animated the entirety of the video (with the exception of the light design, done by Gabin Mayoux).

Paris-based producer Sierra has just dropped her third EP All About Love as an early holiday gift to set your senses ablaze.
