April has been a busy month for the Synthwave scene. With Bandcamp Fridays gaining bigger traction every month and most countries growing rife with promising hopes of live concerts making a comeback, it seems like this fruitful month is but a taste of the glorious rejuvenated summer months to come. This past month saw the return of Retrowave titans Mitch Murder and Timecop1983, along with the long-awaited release of Makeup and Vanity’s ‘Heart of Batman’ Soundtrack on Streaming platforms. KAGAMI Smile’s ‘Secrets Between’ : Into realms of sonic bliss

From the desolate, infinite stillness of our ever-expanding musical cyberspace, Shenzen-based producer Ryan Hill, aka KAGAMI Smile, has hijacked the early April airwaves. The nature of the transmission? An aethereal excursion into forms set free from the confines of the physical realm, a sonic mass with a fragrance of Warp records IDM sophistication and shoegazing textures. Its name ? Secrets Between, a mere drop in Bandcamp’s endless stream of noise and sonic bliss and a future vague memory for the impatient sound scavenger, but a vivid moment of bliss for the open minds in search of traces of the otherworldly.

Dream Catalogue concludes a chapter in Dreampunk history

Bittersweet news has hit the Internet music community these past few weeks. On February 8^th London-based Dreampunk epicentre Dream Catalogue announced the end of their activities as a label on February 23^rd.

As a final sendoff to mark the end of a genre-defining 7-year run, the label adopted a daily release schedule for their final 14 albums, leading up to their final release Good Things Begin in the Quiet by Elegance of the Damned, released on February 23^rd at 6 pm UK time.

We urge you to pay a visit to the label’s webpage for a chance to grab some classic Dreampunk physical releases. For those sleeping on a Dreampunk shopping spree, now’s the time to get your fix.

In the meantime, we thank Dream Catalogue for their great contributions to the Bandcamp music scene and tip our hats to the everlasting legacy they will be leaving behind.
