Sierra drops animated video for ‘Gone’

Back from an extensive North American tour supporting the rollermobster Carpenter Brut, Darkwave’s rising star Sierra has dropped a gorgeous animated music video for the title track to her second record GONE.

Directed by Thomas Landrein and art director Jonas Genevaz, ‘Gone’ follows an armed resistance group through a number of apocalyptic views of the French capital being torn asunder by armed forces. Visceral and grandiose, Sierra’s tribute to France’s brilliant animators serves as yet another urgent reminder to dive back into the artist’s stellar back catalogue.

As for you European Synth-heads out there, be on the lookout for upcoming tour dates, as Sierra will be resuming the Leather Terror tour with Carpenter Brut next week for a series of European shows.

Fixions drops dark magnum opus ‘Requiem for the Serpents World’

Two years after dropping the classic score to the Masebrothers’ Cyborg Deadly Machine, French producer Fixions has struck back with a merciless onslaught of Darksynth ripped straight from the deepest depths of hell. Requiem for the Serpents World is a brutal endaveour bearing the mark of the producer’s taste in extreme metal and its dark lore.

The record features drums sequenced at impossibly fast speeds and heavy breaks that will displace any unsuspecting listener’s spine from whiplash.

‘Requiem for the Serpents World’ is dedicated to all people fighting to spread the truth worldwide, any era, since we entered the Iron Age.

You were angels of light on this earth and all part of this great puzzle resolution, a puzzle that’s crumbling now.

Temporal power is completly corrupted now, any sides.

We will be remembered as Poison Era, 12 000 years of lies, mass manipulation, corruption, wars and infinity of perverse deviances.

Morgan Willis drops new single ‘Feel it’

Morgan Willis has delivered on his promise of a hard-hitting return. Released last Friday, ‘Feel it’ follows up on the ladykilling producer’s teasers hinting at a funky, disco-infused electro makeover. Majestic and larger than life, M.Willis’ Nu-Disco track will get your groove on with a distinctly French touch, evoking the likes of Justice and Daft Punk. No info has been given yet as to an upcoming full-length record in the works, though we can hardly wait to hear what else the French maestro has got in store for this exciting new chapter.

French Synthwave producer Morgan Willis has recently announced the imminent release of a new EP, unveiling the artwork via Facebook. Titled ‘Feel It’, this new musical undertaking may well signal a stylistic shift for the Synthwave veteran. Morgan Willis has also posted a teaser video featuring a funky French touch vibe set to clips of desert landscapes. Whatever is cooking smells fresh, bold and red-hot and we can hardly wait to hear what the man’s got in store for us. Whatever it is… we’re already feeling it.

Carpenter Brut announces ‘Leather Terror’ with new track

The Roller Mobster is back! After announcing his first tour since 2018 back in December, the French Darksynth juggernaut Carpenter Brut has unveiled the date for his next full-length album. Titled Leather Terror, the upcoming record evidently serves as a direct follow up to 2018’s Leather Teeth (possibly the second instalment in yet another trilogy…?) and will feature a handful of exciting guest features from both the metal and retro synth scene, namely Gunship, Ulver and Sylvaine.

Along with the big announcement came the premiere of the album’s first single, which features artist Greg Puciato (The Black Queen/Killer Be Killed/ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan). Directed by French artist Dehn Sora, ‘Imaginary Fire’ expands on Carpenter Brut’s previous music video ‘Fab Tool’ with a hellish, Lovecraftian portrayal of Florida’s beaches.

The album’s pre-order page on bandcamp shows that the album will feature 12 songs whose titles forebode yet another round of unholy rites and merciless decadence.

Boglins Return – A Masebrothers Gremlins spoof!

From the dedicated team that brought you Cyborg: Deadly Machine comes a mischievous little piece of indie filmmaking to spice up your holiday season. Masebrothers are back with a brand new short film spoofing what may well be one of the greatest 80s Christmas movies ever made: Joe Dante’s Gremlins.

Kevin, 38 years old, lives with his grandmother and sees 3 little creatures: the Boglins coming at his home, determined to make a mess throughout the house, eat everything and drive him crazy.

Directed by Mathieu Caillière, the film is chock-full of nods and homages to eighties pop culture, made with the utmost love for the practical effects that made eighties adventure movies so lively and thrilling.

With its puppets made by Tim Clarke (Muppet Show, Dark Crystal), cheesy jokes and immersive score (by Jupiter-8 and Hugo Clément) drawing straight from the original Gremlins score, Boglins Return is a passion project that will thrill fans of Joe Dante’s grotesque comedy-horror style. One cannot help but smile thinking about how ridiculously fun the cast must’ve had whilst writing and shooting the film and we simply can’t get enough of it!

Breaking news: ‘Hollywood Burns’ again with ‘The Age of the Saucers’

Ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt our daily feed of retrowave news to bring you a special bulletin from NewRetrowave Radio News. At twenty minutes before eight, central time, Professor Lacombe of the Paris Observatory reports observing several explosions of incandescent gas, occurring at regular intervals on Planet X.

The spectroscope indicates the gas to be hydrogen and moving towards the earth with enormous velocity. What was once but yet an unknown occurrence amongst the infinite mysteries of our galaxy has now become a painfully clear warning. Another wave of invaders have spawned and are heading straight to earth. Hollywood shall once again burn in what is now known as the ‘The Age of the Saucers’!

Kansas City authorities are already reporting violent rumblings and theremin-like whistling sounds amidst extremely turbulent winds. Kansas State officials advise staying indoors, as a wave of what seem to be millions of flashing lights have been spotted on the eastern horizon. Our local correspondent is now reported missing, as evidence of our helplessness keeps piling up in the face of yet another global catastrophe.

In other equally disturbing news, we have just received reports from the city of Paris, where similar reports of otherworldly sonic havoc seem to have been met with what can only be described as mass hysteria. The Parisians have flooded the streets and are now dancing in an apocalyptic frenzy. French fatalism has officially kicked into full gear, ladies and gentlemen.

The time has come to panic! Lock your doors, turn the volume of your radio set to full volume, grab your rifle and sweetheart and pray. If you’re not shivering in your boots to the sound of Hollywood Burns, you’re not paying close enough attention.

Waveshaper releases Sci-fi MV Short ‘The Phantom Machine’

Following up on his triumphant comeback that was Mainframe, Waveshaper has blessed us with what may well be the most ambitious and downright spectacular Retrowave music video of the year.

NewRetroWave could not be prouder to bring you “The Phantom Machine”, an action-packed feast for the senses. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the video follows a lone traveller who crosses paths with a deadly force known as the Phantom Machine.

Directed by Jendo Shabo of Helios films and starring Shane Morris in the lead role, The Phantom Machine is nothing short of a tour-de-force in indie filmmaking and an awe-inspiring example of a passion led by pure passion and dedication.
