Neoslave goes Neon Goth with ‘Unparallel’

Two years after the brutal Autoviolator, Antwerp’s very own Neoslave has returned with his third full-length album. Announced as a decisive new step in synth music, ‘Unparallel’ will immediately strike old-school fans off-guard with its fresh sonic and visual aesthetic. Indeed, the producer has toned down the distorted aggression in favour of a moodier, post-punk sound that could just as well fit in a goth night DJ set than a Cyberpunk game trailer. The glossy synthpop touches will no doubt polarize listeners expecting yet another satanic darksynth onslaught, though Neoslave’s reconversion will be sure to strike a fancy amongst 80s Britpop aficionados.

In the mood for a fresh wave of retro chills? Belgium’s Jasper De Ceuster has got you covered. Returning one year after his Polygon EP, the producer is back with a full-length experience of what would happen if an eighties production company title card composer were to compose an entire record. The grooves are nice and steady, the hooks are catchy and the synths are smooth as silk. You’ve guessed it, Origins is a record of pure A E S T H E T I C S for fathers who’ve yet to grow tired of old VHS cover designs and mothers who just wished Kandinsky would tidy his shapes up from time to time.

Voyage drops debut EP ‘Glow’

After a handful of years of teasing us with wildly successful singles, Voyage has released his debut EP earlier this week. The Belgian producer rose to fame back in 2017 after being featured on the ‘Electronic Gems’ Youtube channel, namely with his songs ‘Paradise’, ‘Beyond’ and ‘Dynamic’.

The opening track of the EP, brings us straight into familiar territory with smooth, silky, modulated synth textures pulsating along with a steady beat. ‘Astra’ kicks things up a notch with a more dance-friendly dynamic cadence from which Voyage’s House influences reemerge. Finally, Crystal Sky closes things off with a mellow bit of starstruck melancholy.

Whether heard separately as 3 singles or a whole EP, ‘Glows’ is a release that plays it rather safe but does nothing short of delivering the spaced-out chillwave vibes you’ll have come for.
